Halloween 2008

This past Halloween sort of got skipped. Life is busy with a Bobo. We took him trick-or-treating to a few friends' houses. He was a turtle. He had a great time crawling around J's yard. Many people as they passed would comment that they had never seen a turtle crawl so fast! I can't post any pictures of him yet but hopefully I can soon!

Instead I will post pictures of some of the Halloween stuff from work. Our party posse threw a Halloween luncheon that included some of my favorite Halloween food items - including the Ham Head!
One of my coworkers even made a very fun Haunted House cake. I think I found a kindred spirit when it comes to cake!

There are cats everywhere!

My cats are driving me crazy! This picture is usually what I am surrounded by. What you can't see is the third cat on the floor by my feet. I can't go anywhere in the house alone. I always have at least TWO cats with me in the bathroom. At night I always have at least one cat, sometimes two, and every now and then three in bed with me! Ever since Bobo came to live with us the cats have not been able to get the attention they want.

Waiting. . .

I am at work today, I am not actually working though. I came to meet up with a coworker and her son to go and see the ice sculptures downtown. She is finishing up some work so I am waiting. I am also waiting for Cally to have her baby. Cally, if you are reading this you know you only have a few more days to make my Monday cut-off! So get going, have that baby! Today I started a little journal of Bobo's development, milestones, and funny stories. It was suggested to me by Jean. Thanks, Jean! He started "school" a few days ago so there are many new things happening with him. He was a very verbal kid to begin with but now he doesn't stop talking after we bring him home from school. I can only imagine the wonderful things going on in that little brain of his! I really wish I could be a fly on he wall and watch him play and interact with other kids all day. I love watching him learn and explore new things. He gives me the opportunity to see the world from a child's perspective all over again.

Cleaing up Halloween

Cally e-mailed me last week and said I had to do a new post or she was going to stop reading my blog, so here I am! I am sure you all guessed, do to the lack of Halloween posts, that there was no Halloween party this year. Christopher keeps us busy! One of these years he will be old enough to help! This year at my new job I was allowed to bring in as much stuff as I wanted. I am not sure if they knew what they were getting themselves into! I think I controlled myself pretty well though. We ended up making tombstones for the floor. I think we ended up with 17. I went and got the blue styrofoam insulation and cut the shapes out. A few of my coworkers picked out fun names (some CS related, some not). We glued on the letters and then I painted them. I think they turned out fairly well. This was the first time I had ever made tombstones. I think if I were to make them for my own personal use I would use thicker insulation so they would look more realistic. We put them around the office and I scattered some silk fall leaves around each one. I ended up finding a cemetary sign that I had bought years ago and never used. That worked well at the entrance to our office. I brought in all the skulls and bones I have and put those around along with the spiders and insects I have collected through out the years. I think it looked pretty good! The thursday before Halloween we had a big Halloween luncheon complete with the Ham Head, radish eyeballs, etc. I even made little name cards to go along with each item. Salsa in vel.veeta is so much more fun if it is called Vampire Vomit! Today I am back in the office packing everything away.

Thought for the Day.

There should totally be caffeine in water. You shouldn't’t have to pay to have caffeine in a beverage. Caffeine should flow free from every faucet.

The smell of Halloween

Virlena just said our snack drawer smells like Halloween. I of course had to jump off the couch and smell for myself. She said that if she had said it smelled like tuna I wouldn't have cared. She is right. I couldn't pass up an opportunity to smell Halloween, but I can pass up the opportunity to smell tuna! The drawer is plastic and right now is filled with leftover candy from Bobo's birthday party - chocolate and fruity type candy. She was right, it does smell like Halloween. I guess the combination of plastic, chocolate, and fruity candy creates the Halloween smell.
