While the cat's away...

Virlena was out of town last night so I pulled out my latex and got back to work on my corpse. I found some left over cotton type stuff that we used at Christmas around the bottom of our Christmas trees. It worked pretty well to get the look I wanted. About an hour or so after I started working Jen and Gretchen called and rescued me from having to cook dinner for myself. We ended up going to the Peanut Barrel. I hope I didn't drive them too nuts with all of my college stories from that place! (Jess and Kim, do you remember when we got kicked out that one night?!) Going there always brings up so many fun memories. Anyway, after dinner I got back to work. I worked for about another hour and then Gary came down and used one of the litter boxes. She is a stinky cat! I decided the area wasn't going to get any less smelly anytime soon so I wrapped it up for the night.

Do zombies eat popcorn with their fingers?

No, they eat the fingers separately!

Cute joke for the day!

Garage Sale Treasures All For Under $5.00

My mom and I went to a neighborhood garage sale today. We braved the rain and the cold so I could add to my Halloween collection. Today I was on the lookout for interesting glass bottles to add to my potions display I want to make. I was also looking for some interesting things to add to our table setting. I found a silver plate, a silver chaffing dish, and glass and silver salt and pepper shakers. Hopefully all of this will add to the creepy elegance look I am after. As I am sure most people are aware of Virlena is not a big fan of stuff. I know she was concerned before we left about what I would be bringing back. I think she was quite happy with my purchases though. It may have even put her in the Halloween spirit this afternoon. After my mom left we really didn't have anything to do until dinner so she suggested we work on some Halloween Projects. I started trying to turn one of our cheap Big Lots skeletons in to a semi-rotting corpse. I am mainly finished latexing the head and I just started the body. The body has a long way to go.

Mulching

We have mulched in the area between our deck and our neighbor's deck. . .that gives me more space to play with when it comes to decorating. . .I guess it depends on what it ends up looking like but part of me is thinking a mini cemetary might be cute. . .that would give me a bunch of projects to work on. I would have to make a fence and a bunch of tombstones. I have been wanting to create something with PVC pipe. It would make a perfect cemetary fence. I think these projects might have to wait until after the ceremony. There are more ceremony projects that will have to take priority. The nun picture really has nothing to do with this post. I just think we are cute. . .and I don't think I have posted it before!

Rum and Corpse

Yesterday at work my friend Vicki told us a story about some construction workers who found a barrel of run. After they finished off the rum they realized the barrel was still heavy. They opened it up and found a dead body inside. This made my friend Amy and I joke about drinking a "rum and corpse" instead of a "rum and coke". I thought this sounded like a good drink for a Halloween party. We were trying to brainstorm about things you could put in the drink to make it even more festive. Amy thought ice cubes shaped like body parts would be fun. I thought plastic skeletons would be fun. I guess you will have to come to the party to find out!

Storage Unit

Our storage unit used to contain our camping equipment, things for a garage sale, and other odds and ends we don't use at the house very much. It now contains just Christmas and Halloween decorations. We have about 5 Christmas totes and 14 Halloween totes (along with a bundle of weapons, a skull fountain, tombstones, "goretraits", and various supplies for future projects). We used to store all of this stuff in the utility room behind the furnace and hot water heater but the area can only hold about 10 totes. I was reading a thread on the Halloween Forum a few days ago and a member made some joke about having to rent a storage unit just to hold their decorations. . .I guess we are there now!
